Ruth Pearson MA CQSW | University of Sheffield

Ruth PearsonRuth Pearson has over 20 years in the field of child protection, originally as a practicing social worker and subsequently as a Senior Practitioner. She then became involved the in the area of multi-agency child protection training and development and managed safeguarding training services for two ACPCs/LSCBs.

Ruth is an academic and has taught on undergraduate, post graduate and post qualifying social work courses. She has taught at Sheffield Hallam University for four years and is now a part time teacher in social work at the University of Sheffield and has an MA in Child Protection and Child Welfare from Huddersfield University.

Ruth is the author of Working with Hostile or Uncooperative Families in Good Practice in Safeguarding Children (Hughes & Owen, 2009) and has delivered presentations at conferences nationally and internationally on issues of working with hostility and on Serious Case Reviews.

She is a freelance trainer and facilitator, working with education, Children's Social Care and inter-agency settings. She has been the independent author of a number of complex Serious Case Reviews.
